MnDOT has released how it wants to change Hwy 252 / I-94. It’s called a draft Scoping Decision Document (SDD) for the MnDOT Hwy 252/I94 project. It reveals the alternatives it intends to proceed with and what alternatives it wishes to eliminate. MnDOT has selected the most expensive and dangerous options and ignored the safest, more sensible plans.
While we still can, It is critical for us to voice our concerns to our elected officials and MnDOT. Otherwise, MnDOT will proceed with plans that have fatal flaws, are noncompliant with its own safety rules and cause irreversible harms to our communities that will remain for decades. It is critical for you to make comments – NOW
This website contains a wealth of information from the Highway 252 Safety Task Force about safer, healthier and more equitable alternatives to the existing Hwy 252 / I-94 routes in order to promote better community livability, connectivity and cohesion for the people of our Cities.
MAJOR DECISIONS ABOUT OUR SAFETY/COMMUNITY ARE ABOUT TO BE MADE. THE HIGHWAY 252 SAFETY TASK FORCE HAS CAREFULLY EXAMINED THE OPTIONS FOR 252: SOME ARE VERY DANGEROUS TO US
The Highway 252 Safety Task Force has spent years carefully examining the alternatives for MN State Highway 252 (252) and identifying which ones are safe for our families and the motorists: as well as which ones are not. We met with representatives of MnDOT, federal, state, and local officials; engineers examined highway safety rules; and using Freedom of Information requests we obtained access to documents that have not been shared with the public. We also examined significant other information about the impact of the plans on our community.
WHAT WE DISCOVERED.
Depending on what plan is used, the impact on those using or living anywhere near 252, differs dramatically. On this website we intend to provide the information that will allow you to understand the dangers proposed and sensible solutions that avoid them.
SELECTING THE RIGHT PLAN MATTERS!
This website is designed to assist you in evaluating which options protect your family and improve the quality of your lives and which do not. We identify which plans cause more people to be injured or killed; which plans will cause millions more cars to travel on 252; which plans double todays traffic volume by diverting traffic from other regional freeways; which plans convert 252 to a major truck route, adding thousands of diesel trucks per day to 252; which plans require substantially more property seizures, air pollution, dropping property values and dangers to our water supply.
YOU CAN HELP PROTECT OUR SAFETY AND COMMUNITY
This website gives you information on how to effectively be heard regarding 252. Some of the plans cost $350 million or more. If they are done, they will be locked in for decades to come. It is critical for you to make comments – NOW!
Get Involved
You can get involved and make a difference! Learn about the history of the project, read our reccomendations, write your elected officials and leave public comment for MNDot, sign up to join the task force, or come to our next event.

Who Are We?
We are a group of concerned Brooklyn Center residents that formed a task force committee to address safety issues we felt were not being recognized by the MnDot Hwy 252/I 94 project. We have done extensive research, community outreach and had meetings with the MnDot team, City, County, State and Federal elected officials, and many involved organizations and communities. We have been working diligently for many years and are concerned that the communities that will be affected by the 252/I94 project (Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center and North Minneapolis) are not being listened to, cared for or protected. With the previous proposals we found many grave concerns for safety requirements not being followed, increased risk human fatalities, the negative impact on the health of people and the environment and the disregard for the communities.
